No bloody time.
I really hoped I wouldn't have to get distracted by this nonsense, y'know.
Munroe, back the hell off. I need Pryde working at her very best right now, and your pouring shit on her isn't going to help matters. You can discipline her once we've got Emma back, but right now she and Ramsey are helping me, and at this point, they look like just about the only shot we've got. Alison, do me a favour and talk to her, will you - check she's OK, let her know that she's not going to get eaten alive?
I've told Braddock what's happened. He's not a happy boy, but given that I didn't tell him anything until Betsy was back in the mansion, he's going to live with it for now. As far as he's concerned, I didn't know anything about it until after the fact either, and I'd like things to stay that way...

And what, pray tell, makes you think I don't want to yell at her as well? Maybe even shake some modicum of sense in her silly little head? Huh? Because for someone as fucking brilliant as she is, she can be spectacularly stupid when she sets her mind to it.Kitty is more than just a resource, to be left upset or not depending on whether you need her or not. If that is not how you meant for your statement to be understood, please let me know. I'd much rather have read this wrong and misinterpreted your meaning, in all honesty. So. She will have to face the consequences to her actions regardless of anything you may currently need her to do - I won't condone "letting her off the hook" even if it's only temporary, just because it's... convenient. She deserves better than to be treated that way.
I'll be talking to Kitty later today, unless she shows a preference not to talk to me - as she's done before, clearly, since this has all come to pass. And I will only approach her after I've spoken to Jamie, who is the only one who has shown even the slightest inkling that what was done was perhaps not the smartest or wisest move in creation, and has actually taken the step to ask to speak to me, to try and explain his side of things, as opposed to just refuse to listen to anyone about anything. So believe me, I will listen very very carefully to what Jamie has to tell me. His words will be golden, and he is, at this moment, far higher in my esteem than his companions, in that he is at least attempting to take responsibility for his actions in a mature way and initiate some form of communication. Even if I wish he'd done this sooner.
You may take the following as you will.
The Professor has already told the students that no one is about to get sent back to their parents, or any other such melodramatic decision. People here have calmed down, as much as can be expected. No one is going to eat anyone alive - cannibalism is out of fashion, don'tcha know. But I do appreciate your decision to provoke people further here, where the students won't have to put up with it, at least.

But the harsh reality of the situation is that since I was fired, my contacts have dried up a lot - I just can't get access to the same level of information I used to. If we're going to find Emma soon, then she's the best chance we've got. She's starting to look very much like the only chance, unless Doc Braddock and I break into every home in Northern France.
You're right, it would be wrong to let her off the hook because it's "convenient", but I will not have the staff at the mansion chance Emma's life even a little bit for any reason, convenience be damned, and if I were 15 and getting the kind of verbal beating she's been getting over the last few days, I would not be giving anything I did my best, and right now, Emma can't afford that.
Yes, Kitty deserves better than to treated like a resource, and you have no idea how fucking shit I feel about having to think of her even slightly that way, because like I said, she's a fucking remarkable kid first and foremost, but no matter how rotten it is, and now matter how remarkable she is, right now, priority one has to be getting Emma back alive, and we can all do whatever we have to in order to salve our consciences later.
Kitty already knows that just about the entire faculty think she was wrong, but I think it might be helpful for her to know that at least some of the staff might be able to respect her ability to make decisions without needing to turn the event into an inquisition, and examine all her reasons for doing something they don't agree with. And yeah, I realise that that might not include you. I have no idea what a student counsellor actually does, but was hoping the job description extended to putting your own feelings aside and just being nice because one of the kids might need it. If that's not part of the job, then I'm sorry I asked, and just so's we're clear, please don't read any sarcasm into the last couple of sentences, I just genuinely thought it might have been your job.
And I don't think that getting chucked out would be worrying any of them half as much as the reactions of the people they've now got to live with. They're bright enough to know which is the easier option.

And... there's something else too. Which I think you'll be thrilled about all things considered. It's something I hadn't considered before, but frankly right now, I just can't do anything else but this. Of course, for the sake of your mission, we'll keep that for when you get back, mmm?
Professor? Please do a surface scan of my mind. I think this might work rather well, all things considered...

And whatever fall you're setting me up for had better be funny. God knows, we all need it right now.

I'm just letting you know I'm contacting some people in Europe that I know. Hospitals, doctors, some of the uppity up of British society. I'm trying to see if they've heard of anything at all about Emma. See if there have been large amounts of drugs being bought, drugs that can inhibit a telepath's power.
I haven't turned anything up but...I completely forgot to let you know about this angle.
